With the arrival of the new intake of students at the University of Bath having commenced over weekend just passed, recruitment activities are now well underway for the Bath Killer Bees as they look to build the squad, both on and off the field, which will lead them to another successful season.
This past Saturday and Sunday saw a concentrated effort by existing players who assisted new students who accepted help by moving belongings into rooms, and also distributing flyers and leaflets throughout the busy areas of the University campus.
Distribution of promotional material will continue throughout this first week of term, whilst Wednesday sees the first formal recruitment event take place.
A new Sports Day will take place throughout the day and the Killer Bees will be located on the main campus Parade where it will be possible to talk to existing players as well as some coaches about the sport and find out all the information you could want. In addition, at regular intervals throughout the day, taster sessions will be held on the St. John’s pitches where anybody interested will be able to test their abilities at some of the facets of the sport first hand.
The following week see’s the more formal Sports Fair take place in the Founders Sports Hall between 4 and 7pm where all the University’s sports club will be present. This year the Bees are offering a more interactive approach as a way to encourage anyone interested in the sport to come along. With the Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator scheduled to be present there should be ample opportunity to ask any of the questions new students may have, and a challenge on the Nintendo Wii version of Madden should provide for some intense competition. Anyone new to the Bees who provides the club with their contact details will be entered into a free draw to win a bottle of vodka, and another bottle will be on offer to the eventual winner of the Madden challenge.
The following weekend see’s the 4th annual Killer Bees Mini Camp, scheduled to take place throughout October 10th and 11th. This will be the occasion where new and returning players are put through their paces and kitted contact will take place for the first time. Further details will be released in due course. With so much to do and so little time before the season opener on November 8th time is of the essence and without question the pre-season has now thoroughly begun!
